A Local Favorite Built on Tradition Since 1985
Morning Star Restaurant at Elk Horn Lodge in Angel Fire, NM has been part of the community for nearly four decades. The original restaurant first opened its doors in 1985 and served guests until 1995, becoming a familiar spot for locals and travelers looking for simple, homemade meals in the heart of Angel Fire.
Even after the original chapter closed, the story never truly ended.
Reopening in September 2021
In September 2021, Morning Star Restaurant was proudly brought back to life at its original location inside Elk Horn Lodge. The reopening wasn’t just about restarting a business—it was about reviving a place that meant something to the community.
The vision remained the same:
fresh, homemade food served in a welcoming, family-friendly environment where guests feel at home.
Nearly 45 Years of Community Connection
The owners behind Morning Star Restaurant have been part of the Angel Fire community for approximately 39 years, building long-standing relationships with locals, visitors, and returning guests who remember the original restaurant.
That deep local connection is at the heart of everything we do today. Many of our guests aren’t just customers—they’re familiar faces, old friends, and new generations discovering Morning Star for the first time.
